Comparative Climate Strategies: Evaluating And Recommending Reforms For India In The Context Of Developing Nations

Abstract
India’s role in global climate mitigation is increasingly pivotal, given its rapid economic growth and vulnerability to climate impacts. This paper critically evaluates India’s climate strategies in comparison with other developing nations, with a focus on policy effectiveness, institutional frameworks, and adaptive capacity. Drawing on a longitudinal literature review (2008–2024), the study identifies key trends, sectoral impacts, and best practices adopted by emerging economies. Using qualitative and comparative analysis, it assesses India’s strengths and gaps, and recommends actionable reforms inspired by successful models in countries such as Brazil, South Africa, and China. The results highlight the importance of regional adaptation, technology transfer, and international cooperation to accelerate India’s progress towards sustainable development and climate resilience.
