Abstract

Pneumonia is a serious respiratory infection that affects millions of people worldwide each year. It is caused by a range of pathogens—including bacteria, viruses, and fungi—and leads to lung inflammation and impaired breathing. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment, as timely intervention can significantly lower both morbidity and mortality rates. In this study, we utilize advanced deep learning models to detect pneumonia from chest X-ray images, a widely used diagnostic tool in clinical practice. We implemented several state-of-the-art architectures, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), InceptionResNetV2, Xception, VGG16, ResNet50, and EfficientNetV2L. These models were selected for their demonstrated performance in image classification tasks, particularly within the domain of medical imaging.
